Combat in Valhalla is Player Versus Player (PVP)-focused but non-lethal, by default. Don’t forget to see a safety marshal to get an Authorization!
Combat between vikings is viewed IG as a perfectly acceptable way to settle disputes. Fights virtually never end in death, and putting another viking in the Downed state is a good way to get them out of your hair for at least five minutes.
THAT BEING SAID: please review theRoleplaying Guide section on PVP before engaging another player in boffer combat, and likewise be sure to review the Safety Guide.
Small: No more than 24” in length
Medium: At least 24”, no more than 43” in length
Two Handed: At least 36” in length, must be used with two hands
Shield: No smaller than 1 sq foot and no larger than 8 sq foot in size (including cutouts)
Foam dart blasters*: 130 FPS max, may not be battery powered or HPA (compressed air). Must only fire a single dart per trigger pull.
Bows and boffer arrows: No more than 30lbs draw weight, arrow heads must be 3” diameter minimum. Bulb-tipped arrows are permitted.
Thrown weapons (coreless): Any soft, strike-safe form factor that can be felt when a target is struck may be used. Cored thrown weapons are not permitted.
Untagged armor has no mechanical benefit. Tagged armor should be appropriately physrepped. In general, there are no specific rules about coverage or materials except that the armor should fit the aesthetic of the setting and emotionally communicate the level of armor provided. For example, a lightweight leather cuirass probably wouldn’t say “heavy armor”; instead consider adding bracers, greaves, and additional coverage to indicate the increased armor value.
