“And in the end when there is nothing left, you will find yourself.”

Overview

At the edge of crushing darkness is where you feel most alive. At least that’s what Event Horizon believes. The Maelstrom has arrived to cull the weak and strong alike from known space, and the Horizon-walkers know this all a grand gesture from the universe to show how pointless our petty struggles really are.

Horizon-walkers come from many different backgrounds and ways of life, but share a defining trait: they walk the cosmos in search of their own meaning.

History

Though most denizens of Civilized Space have only recently learned of this unusual faith due to the advent of the Maelstrom, Event Horizon has endured in some fashion or another for at least as long as the Numeric Faiths. The superficial similarities between them have lent some weight to the hypothesis that the original Horizon-Walkers were, in fact, heretical Pentics. Both are organized around small, hyper-localized, individual cults. Muun, the Fifth of the Pentic faith, has a similar portfolio as a goddess of nothingness and entropy.

Crucially however, Horizon-walkers worship no gods at all, recognizing only the inevitable end of all things itself.

Recent developments have been a double-edged sword for Even Horizon as a whole. On the one hand, with the literal end of the world looming, awareness of the faith has grown. Many have come to recognize the beauty of the inevitable end, and find solace in the faith because of it. On the other hand, a not-insignificant amount of people believe that Event Horizon somehow caused the Maelstrom. Often misunderstood even in the best of times, Horizon-Walkers across Civilized Space are now met with fear, hatred and even violence.

Tenets and Beliefs

The Horizon awaits us all.

There is no meaning but what we make.

Only when you have nothing, are you free to be anything.
