QR codes with the Project: Valhalla symbol in the center are considered IG. You will find them on tagged items, and other glyphs may contain lore entries, equipment instructions, etc. You are encouraged to scan glyphs using your smartphone (IG: your “data tablet”) to find out what they mean. If you do not have a device that can scan QR codes, Staff may have some to loan out.
A tagged item is a real-world object with a glyph (QR code) physically attached to it in some way. Players can freely scan the glyph with their smartphone or other devices to get information about the item.
The properties of tagged items are obvious to any character who can scan the glyph and are not intended to be secret, unless otherwise specified.
Carded items are represented by physical cards with the item’s information on them. They do not require a physrep. A typical example of a carded item is a Meal.
You may request an item card for any tagged item you own, for your personal reference.
Do not write on or otherwise mark item tags, cards or blueprints unless a rule or mechanic invites you to do so.
Specifications for weapon props can be found on the Combat page.
Items with Durability lose 1 Durability at the beginning of an event. When an item loses Durability, mark off a square on the item’s card. Any item with 0 Durability at the end of an event is permanently destroyed.
Please note that only events actually attended by the player in possession of the item reduce Durability.
Item Name | Durability |
---|---|
Most Equipment | 12 |
Reusable Gizmos | 6 |
Single-use Gizmos | 3 |
Consumables | 0 |
Military-Grade | 3 |
Similarly, if an item has a limited number of Uses, mark each use off on the item’s card. An item with no Uses remaining is permanently destroyed.
The Lock Symbol
Targeting a container with a Demolish Effect destroys the container and anything inside it. A container can contain any number of tagged or carded items that would reasonably fit inside it.
There are three kinds of locks in Valhalla: diagetic, exegetic and Player Crafted. All locks require use of the Lockpicking Ability to interact with.
An exegetic lock will have an envelope attached with a lock symbol on it, usually on the lock itself or on the door, container, etc it’s attached to. You may open the envelope and follow the instructions inside to attempt to pick the lock. If you have a key that corresponds to the number on the envelope, you may lock and unlock it freely. (If you do so, do not open the attached envelope).
A diagetic lock is a padlock-shaped prop or puzzle with a lock symbol on it. You may attempt to pick the lock with the provided lockpick(s) only.
Do not use actual lock picks or attempt to brute-force combination locks. All IG locks will have the Valhalla logo on them; do not attempt to open locks without the logo!
