🟪 Overview

Characters are always in one of the following four conditions.

Alive

The default condition for characters when their HP is more than 0. The character can act normally.

Downed

When a viking’s HP reaches 0, they gain the Downed condition for 5 minutes. While Downed, the player roleplays being incapacitated, and cannot act, they can only cry out in pain or groan. A Downed viking is unable to move, speak, or use any effects (take a knee to indicate. Never lie down on a battlefield).

If the viking was placed in the Downed state through being reduced to 0 HP, healing taken while in this state removes the Downed status and the viking is fully Alive once more.

Receiving damage resets the 5 minute timer.

At the end of the 5 minutes, if no damage or healing was received, the viking becomes Stabilized.

Stabilized

The viking’s condition has stabilized, they regain the ability to talk quietly and walk slowly, but otherwise cannot act and their HP remains at 0. In addition, they gain the Fragile Effect.

Any damage taken while in this state causes the viking to become Downed again, as if they were reduced to 0 HP.

If the viking is targeted by a Heal Effect, while in this state it removes the Downed condition and the viking is fully Alive once more.

Dead

A dead viking may continue roleplaying as a corpse. At any point after being rendered Dead, the player may choose to go OOG. If the player chooses to go OOG, they may not go back IG unless an Effect returns them to life. If you are Annihilated, you do not leave remains, and cannot be targeted by Revive except under miraculous circumstances.

🔶 What Happens When You Die

When a Viking becomes Dead and their player goes OOG, the player leaves all their Viking’s tagged items that were in their possession at the time at the location in which they became Dead. The player should immediately report to Staff for further instructions.

Dead vikings may, at their player’s discretion, return to life later in the event as a Flash Clone with a Flaw of their choice. See: Flaws

🔶 Permanent Character Death

Permanent character death, also known as “perming” is always the player’s choice. Following a character’s death, a player may contact Staff and request to be permed. Staff will work with the player to determine the narrative of the exact nature of the character’s inability or decision to not return to life and communicate this IG to other players (or not, at the player’s discretion). Upon perming, the character is retired, and the player can make a new character who will appear in the next event.
